About the Project and Its Scope

Ես ու դուն (the Western Armenian equivalent of "you and I" that is pronounced "yes oo toon") is an open educational resource (OER) for Modern Western Armenian collaboratively created by Lisa Gulesserian and Charry Karamanoukian. The resource is free for you to use, adapt, and remix as you learn Western Armenian.

Ես ու դուն was sponsored in part by a Mellon-funded program housed in Michigan State University’s Less Commonly Taught and Indigenous Languages Partnership.

The materials cover approximately a year of a university-level Western Armenian sequence (Semester 1: alphabet lessons + Units 1–4; Semester 2: Units 6–10; Bridge/Summer Semester: Units 11–12). Every unit is centered around a real-world communicative goal for college-aged students. While the lessons are meant college-aged students, you're welcome to learn Western Armenian by using them...even if you're not yet 21 or you have not been in your 20s for quite some time.
